From the article

If I told you my Top 20 included Miles Sanders, Jaylen Warren, Khalil Herbert, Gus Edwards, Elijah Mitchell, Damien Harris, Matt Breida, and Bilal Powell... but not Christian McCaffrey or Saquon Barkley (they rank 23rd and 24th, respectively), well, things wouldn't be smelling so good anymore.

STACKED’s take

Negative signalProjection

Mitchell's top-20 YPC ranking while McCaffrey/Barkley rank 23-24 fails smell test.

Elijah Mitchell ranks in the top 20 by yards-per-carry metrics but Christian McCaffrey and Saquon Barkley rank only 23rd and 24th respectively, demonstrating that yards-per-carry fails the 'smell test' as a reliable measure of running back value.
