Purdy's 2026 play has equipped the 49ers to handle Seattle's elite pass rush better than in prior matchups. Historically, Purdy posted 87th, 65th, and 87th percentile EPA/dropback performances in his first three meetings against Mike MacDonald's defenses, but declined to 10th and 5th percentile in the last two matchups as Seattle's defense gelled. The 49ers offense hasn't scored a touchdown against Seattle through eight quarters, but the deck is now set more fairly for Purdy to execute Shanahan's scheme against a Seahawks defense that ranks 1st in pass rush win rate and 2nd in EPA/play allowed overall.
