Ty Simpson, the quarterback who L.A. selected at pick 13 and who has yet to be active for an NFL game... I think Ty Simpson is doing more for McVay's health than any other rookies because at least he's not the bane of his existence on the field like some of these other players would have been.

Simpson's inactivity may be better for McVay than drafting underperforming rookies like Bain or Lemon.

Quarterback selected 13th overall by the Rams has yet to be active for an NFL game through five weeks. The source notes that Simpson's inactivity may actually benefit head coach Sean McVay's health relative to other rookie alternatives (Bain, Lemon, Sadiq), since Simpson is not underperforming on the field like those players would be if drafted instead. McVay stated post-draft that the Rams would only draft for immediate 2026 Super Bowl help if it guaranteed a championship appearance, positioning Simpson as a long-term investment rather than a present-day contributor.
