Cooks' speed forces Seattle to respect the vertical threat.

Wide receiver with the speed to threaten Seattle's defense vertically. The source notes that Cooks, along with Jacob Cowing and Jordan Watkins, have the speed to "keep a defense honest." This is a notable upgrade from last season when the 49ers lacked deep-threat capability; Seahawks safeties could line up 10 yards off because they didn't fear receivers like Jauan Jennings or Kenrick Bourne running by them. Cooks' presence forces Seattle to respect the vertical game.
