In September 2020, Allen directed a 75-yard touchdown drive aided by a controversial fourth-down pass interference call to rescue a game Buffalo had led 28–3 in the third quarter, finding Tyler Kroft in the end zone with 15 seconds remaining for a 35–32 victory. Two years later in the 2022 season opener, Allen threw three touchdown passes and rushed for three more scores while the defense intercepted Matthew Stafford three times and sacked him seven times in a 31–10 victory. On December 8, 2024, Allen delivered one of the most remarkable individual performances in league history: 342 passing yards and three touchdown passes, 82 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns, becoming the first player in NFL history to throw three touchdown passes and rush for three touchdowns in the same game. Despite the six-touchdown, zero-turnover performance, the Bills lost 44–42 as the Rams scored 38 points in the first three quarters. Allen was in the middle of what would become his first NFL MVP season and won NFL MVP honors for the 2024 season.
