The Commanders waived sixth-round running back Kaytron Allen on Thursday, and then GM Adam Peters and head coach Dan Quinn spent some of their Friday public appearances saying they liked him and hoped to sign him the practice squad. That won't be possible. The Miami Dolphins claimed him off waivers, the Dolphins announced on Friday afternoon.

Allen claimed by Dolphins after Commanders waived him due to RB depth chart logjam.

Sixth-round running back Kaytron Allen was waived by the Commanders on Thursday and claimed off waivers by the Dolphins on Friday. Allen had 12 rushes for 41 yards in four regular-season games with Washington. The Commanders waived him despite liking him because they faced a logjam at running back with Austin Ekeler, Bill Croskey-Merritt, Rachaad White, and Jeremy McNichols nearing a return off injured reserve. The Dolphins, sitting at 0-4 with the highest waiver priority, claimed Allen after losing De'Von Achane to a torn ACL.
