Vikings quarterback entering year three will compete with Kyler Murray for the starting job. Former Vikings receiver Adam Thielen praised McCarthy as a phenomenal dude, hard worker with dog in him and all the intangibles to be successful in the league. Thielen noted that competition will amp up McCarthy's game, similar to how competition elevated Thielen's own career. However, McCarthy threw 12 interceptions and only 11 touchdowns last season, and the Vikings led the league in giveaways with 30 total. The Vikings did not bring in a veteran initially last year because they wanted McCarthy to have a clear path, but now he must fight for his job.
