Turf Show Times on Matthew Stafford

Stafford's 69.0 grade masks concerns; 17th QB by passing grade with 9 turnover-worthy plays.

Stafford earned a PFF grade of 69.0 despite completing 40 of 54 passes (74.1%) for 383 yards and three touchdowns. PFF credited him for one big-time throw but dinged him for one turnover-worthy play. He got the ball out quickly at 2.55 seconds average but his average depth of target suffered at 6.9 yards. Applying a 50% drop back threshold, Stafford ranks 17th among quarterbacks by passing grade at 67.4 with more turnover-worthy plays (nine) than big-time throws (eight), suggesting the box score was kinder than his actual performance.
