The Bengals fed the hot hand out of the backfield on Sunday in Miami, opting to give Samaje Perine 14 carries to Chase Brown's 13. It's close to being even, but Brown came into the season with a lock on RB1, and seemed to be the guy through the first couple games. Brown's RB1 lock status in question as carries split with Perine.

Received 13 carries in Miami, down from his early-season RB1 lock status; carry distribution is now nearly even with Samaje Perine (14 carries), signaling a shift in the Bengals' backfield approach. Offensive coordinator Dan Pitcher views the situation as more fluid, and the team's increased use of shotgun formations—which better suit Perine's downhill running style—suggests Brown's early-season role dominance may not continue.
