Bleeding Green Nation on Makai Lemon

Mannion: Lemon was first read on late-game drive, play designed to advance ball.

Offensive coordinator Sean Mannion explained the design and execution of Makai Lemon's late-game catch ahead of the Eagles' final field goal attempt against Jacksonville. Mannion noted the Eagles were facing a cover zero look, which created leverage issues. The primary focus of the play call was to advance the ball to help the field goal distance and avoid a negative play. Mannion revealed that Lemon was the first read on that play, and while Lemon was caught near the sideline and got pushed out, the execution achieved the intended outcome of advancing the ball.
