Yahoo Sports NFL on Brandon Aiyuk
From the article
Brandon Aiyuk was a star receiver with a $120M contract; now he's the NFL's biggest enigma... after a devastating knee injury, Aiyuk forfeited $27 million in guaranteed salary in a fight over rehab, ghosted the 49ers, fired his agent, publicly dissed Lynch and head coach Kyle Shanahan and moved to Virginia with the intention of signing with the Commanders.
STACKED’s take
Aiyuk's career derailed by knee injury, contract dispute, and public feuds with 49ers.
Aiyuk, a former first-round pick who signed a $120 million contract extension after an All-Pro season, has become an enigma following a devastating knee injury; he forfeited $27 million in guaranteed salary in a rehab dispute, ghosted the 49ers, fired his agent, publicly criticized Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch, and moved to Virginia with intention to sign with the Commanders. The Athletic reports he is now listed without an NFLPA-certified agent and the players' union's attempts to reach him have gone unanswered. Lynch's tone shifted from June 2025 (likening it to a family spat) to July 2026 ("We wish him well"), signaling the relationship is effectively over.
