Only three quarterbacks this season have started every game this season and thrown zero interceptions: Jared Goff, CJ Stroud, and Geno Smith. After being the most prolific thrower of interceptions for two years, Geno has done a masterful job of avoiding throwing into harm's way. In fact, he's become the second passer this century to lead the league in interceptions and then have zero interceptions in his first five games the next year.

Geno's zero-interception start is historic; only Testaverde matched it after leading league in picks.

Geno Smith has thrown zero interceptions through five games in 2026 after leading the NFL with 17 interceptions in 2025 and 15 in 2024; he is only the second QB this century to lead the league in interceptions one year and then start the next season with zero picks in the first five games, matching Vinny Testaverde's 2001 feat of 6 TDs and 0 INTs through five weeks. The source notes Smith has avoided throwing into harm's way and appears to have turned over a new leaf, though he has fumbled in four of five games and holds the ball longer behind an underperforming offensive line.
