Niners Nation on Christian McCaffrey
From the article
McCaffrey became the first 49ers running back to have a passing, rushing, and receiving touchdown in the same game. It just kept getting nuts from there. The 49ers became a different team in almost overnight.
STACKED’s take
McCaffrey's second/third/fourth-round acquisition transformed the offense overnight.
The 2022 acquisition from Carolina for second, third, and fourth-round picks transformed the 49ers offense despite initial skepticism. McCaffrey debuted against Kansas City with limited impact due to inexperience in the system, but in his second game against the Los Angeles Rams became the first 49ers running back to record a passing, rushing, and receiving touchdown in the same game. The source notes 'the 49ers became a different team in almost overnight' and that McCaffrey 'quickly made himself the focal point of the 49ers offense.' Though many thought the 49ers were fleeced given their lack of a first-round pick post-Trey Lance, the source argues 'it was clear the 49ers got him in exchange for a Betamax player,' indicating the trade was a steal.
