Singletary's even alignment with McCarthy created defensive confusion, enabling better blocking.

Singletary's 9-yard run in the fourth quarter with J.J. McCarthy at quarterback demonstrated the effectiveness of alignment changes; when lined up even with McCarthy in shotgun rather than behind him, Singletary benefited from Saints' defensive hesitation and confusion about whether McCarthy would run or hand off, allowing Giants' blockers to establish blocks more effectively. The source also notes Singletary needs to be more physical and patient letting blocks develop.
