Big Blue View on J.J. McCarthy

McCarthy's run threat slowed Saints' defense, enabling more effective Giants' run blocking.

McCarthy's fourth quarter performance showed the Giants' offense was explosive and dynamic with him on the field; the threat of his quarterback run game forced Saints' second-level defenders to play more slowly and hesitantly compared to when Jameis Winston was in the game, creating hesitation among linebackers and safeties that allowed the Giants' blockers to establish and lock in their blocks on running plays.
