New England's quarterback was simply better. Maye delivered some good throws throughout the day, took what the defense gave him, showed some anticipation (see: 3rd-and-10 throw to Kyle Williams), made sound decisions, and once again played at a consistently high level both when throwing the ball and picking his spots to advance it with his legs. His 0.39 expected points added per play are a reflection of that.

Positive signalProjection

Maye's 0.39 EPA per play shows elite efficiency against Jets' adjusted defense.

Against a Jets defense that averaged 3.4 sacks per game and altered their typically blitz-heavy approach to contain him, Maye delivered good throws, showed anticipation on key third-down conversions, made sound decisions, and played at a consistently high level both passing and running. His 0.39 expected points added per play reflects his strong performance despite the competitive game environment.
