Hurts' superficial blood clot worsened to lungs; season-ending injury requires blood thinner treatment.

Jalen Hurts was cleared to play in Week 5 with a superficial blood clot diagnosed after being cleated the prior week and undergoing ultrasound and testing at a London clinic Saturday morning. The clot was initially deemed safe to play with by multiple NFL medical professionals consulted; however, a follow-up ultrasound Wednesday revealed the clot was moving, and subsequent scans Saturday showed multiple blood clots had migrated to his lungs, a serious development requiring blood thinner medication. Contact sports are prohibited while on blood thinners, effectively ending his 2026 season. The NFL concluded the Eagles' medical clearance process was handled appropriately and issued no punishment.
