There was some hope Boutte could stick as the team's WR2 but is now looking at WR6 on the depth chart.
STACKED’s take
Boutte's role collapses to WR6 with Harrison, Noel, and Dell's emergence.
When the Texans acquired Boutte in August, it seemed an ideal landing spot after he was squeezed out of the Patriots rotation, with Houston having lost Jayden Higgins for the season and Tank Dell's return in question. Boutte ramped up quickly with snap shares of 73% and 69% in Weeks 2-3 while Nico Collins tended to a hamstring injury, managing 62% and 59% in the next two games with Collins in the lineup. However, production was lacking as Boutte fell between 21 and 38 yards in each of his first five games. In Week 6, the Texans acquired Marvin Harrison Jr., who played 19% of snaps in his first game but that number will continue to rise. Boutte played fewer snaps than both Jaylin Noel and Xavier Hutchinson, with Noel turning himself into a playmaker. Tank Dell is expected to be active in Week 7, further limiting Boutte's role. He was once hoped to stick as the team's WR2 but is now looking at WR6 on the depth chart.
