J.J. McCarthy replaced him after the second interception (Q4 12:28) and went 11-of-21 for 243 yards, a touchdown and an interception (90.0) with four spikes in the 21 attempts... The former Vikings QB completed 11 of his 21 passes for a whopping 243 yards - tied for the sixth-most fourth-quarter passing yards in this century - and a touchdown while rushing for a team-high 26 yards on two carries. His 14.9 air yards per attempt and 17.2 air yards per completion were the most by a QB with at least 20 dropbacks in a game this season... I'd imagine we see J.J. McCarthy as the starter sooner rather than later (could be as early as this week).

McCarthy's 243 fourth-quarter yards tied for sixth-most this century; starter soon.

McCarthy replaced Winston in the fourth quarter and went 11-of-21 for 243 yards, a touchdown and an interception (90.0 rating) with four spikes in 21 attempts. He completed 11 of 21 passes for 243 yards in the fourth quarter alone—tied for the sixth-most fourth-quarter passing yards in this century—with a 14.9 air yards per attempt and 17.2 air yards per completion, the most by any QB with at least 20 dropbacks this season. He also rushed for a team-high 26 yards on two carries. The source expects McCarthy to become the starter 'sooner rather than later' and notes he 'almost completed the comeback for NY in the fourth quarter.' However, the Giants have a Week 8 bye, so they might ride Winston one more time to avoid throwing McCarthy to the Houston Texans defense on the road.
