Arrowhead Pride on Jalen Royals

Royals emerging as 'secret weapon' in heavy formations; blocking prowess unlocking offensive role.

Second-year player Jalen Royals caught 2 of 4 targets for 24 yards and has proven this season to be a quality blocking wide receiver who lines up on multiple snaps around the line of scrimmage. The Chiefs found ways to get the ball to Royals that incorporated aspects of their play-action game and condensed sets. On critical downs and distances, he is quickly becoming the Chiefs' 'secret weapon' out of traditionally heavy formations, a role that can leave defenses guessing and lead to bigger plays for Royals down the line.
