McCarthy wins Giants starting job after strong relief appearance vs. Saints.

J.J. McCarthy has won the starting QB job for the Giants against the Houston Texans following his relief appearance in the fourth quarter against the Saints. The Giants traded a fifth-round pick to Minnesota to acquire McCarthy, a highly athletic QB with a stronger arm and better mobility than Jameis Winston; McCarthy is expected to spark the Giants' offense and allow it to function as originally designed with a mobile passer who can extend plays and stress defenses vertically.
