If Mayfield isn't ready to go for Sunday's game, Daniels will continue to start in his place. The undrafted rookie quarterbacked Tampa Bay to a "Thursday Night Football" win over the Dallas Cowboys in his second career start. Daniels, who appeared in 49 games across six seasons at Kansas, has completed 61.2% of his passes over his first four outings with the Bucs.

Daniels remains backup option; 1-2 record with mixed efficiency in four appearances.

Backup quarterback Jalon Daniels is preparing to potentially start again if Mayfield is not cleared by Sunday. Bowles noted that both Mayfield and Daniels understand the game plan and are splitting reps. Daniels, an undrafted rookie, has appeared in four games for Tampa Bay, completing 61.2% of his passes for 501 yards, 126 rushing yards, and a 3:5 touchdown-to-interception ratio with a 1-2 record. He led the Bucs to a Thursday Night Football win over Dallas in his second career start but blew a 13-point fourth-quarter lead to Pittsburgh last week, resulting in an overtime loss.
