People look at him because he's a little bit smaller and he's real fast, so they think of him as just a deep threat. We've always looked at him like he can run shallow crosses, deep crosses. He can do all that stuff and [is] very good at it. He's tough and he's smart, so you can move him around a lot in a lot of different spots.

Worthy leading team with 28 routes; Reid confirms expanded role beyond deep threat.

Worthy is thriving in an expanded role with the Chiefs, operating beyond his perceived deep-threat archetype. Coach Andy Reid emphasized that despite being listed at 5-foot-11 and 165 pounds, Worthy can run shallow crosses, deep crosses, and intermediate routes effectively; he is tough, smart, and can be moved around to different spots. In the game against the Chargers, Worthy caught the ball on crossing routes beating both zone and man-to-man coverage, created proper separation in the intermediate area, and led the team with 28 routes.
