Yahoo Sports NFL on Jalen Hurts
From the article
Whether it's Jalen Hurts or Tanner McKee, give the quarterback and the players around him a chance to execute.
STACKED’s take
Hurts hampered by Eagles' broken pass protection; empty formations show promise.
The Eagles' pass protection has been a major liability, with the offense repeatedly breaking down under pressure before Hurts has a chance to execute. The source notes that under-center play-action against five-plus rushers has been particularly problematic, with zero successful plays in 15 attempts (0%), losing an average of almost a full expected point per play. Empty formations have been the most productive formation for Hurts under pressure (12 plays), suggesting the offense needs to spread the defense out to give him clearer pre-snap reads and more receiving options to attack intermediate windows rather than forcing desperate deep shots or checkdowns behind the line of scrimmage.
