Yahoo Sports NFL on Brock Bowers

Bowers leads Raiders in targets and yards; treated as WR1 by opposing defenses.

Bowers leads the Raiders in targets (40), receptions (28, tied with Michael Mayer) and receiving yards (382) despite missing two games. He's tied for the team lead in receiving touchdowns with three. Functioning as an 'offensive weapon' rather than traditional tight end, Bowers has spent only 15.8 percent of his pass snaps as an in-line tight end this season, causing opponents to treat him like a WR1 by putting their top coverage defender on him. Against Buffalo last week, he was bottled up by cornerback Christian Benford with two catches for 23 yards on five targets, but when other defenders covered him, he hauled in two of three targets for 47 yards.
