Quarterback Jayden Daniels' decision against in-season surgery altered the outlook of the season as a potential season-ending surgery instead became a two-game absence, allowing Washington to avoid a second consecutive lost season due to quarterback injuries. Daniels' surgery decision keeps Commanders' season alive and rookie-deal window open.

Jayden Daniels' decision against in-season surgery altered the season outlook significantly; what could have been a season-ending injury instead became a two-game absence, allowing Washington to avoid a second consecutive lost season due to quarterback injuries. With Daniels on year three of his four-year deal ahead of the 2028 team option, the franchise has a critical window to strike with its quarterback still on his rookie deal, making the trade deadline decision to buy or sell particularly consequential.
