Will he decline to take the dead money on Daniel Jones' contract and give him another year removed from his achilles injury to find his groove again under Steichen? Doesn't sound appealing to anyone reading, but certainly an option. Could the Colts use any DeForest Buckner ammunition to take a QB in the 2nd round and have a Wentz/Hurts situation? Definitely could. Quarterback will remain the biggest question mark, but I still believe the 2026 season has become about more than Jones, even if he contributed to many of the team's early struggles. With the proper supporting cast and structure around him, I think he can still return to form.

Jones could return to form with proper supporting cast; Colts face QB decision in offseason.

The source outlines two potential quarterback paths for the Colts: retaining Daniel Jones for another year removed from his Achilles injury to find his groove under Shane Steichen, or using DeForest Buckner trade ammunition to draft a QB in the second round (Wentz/Hurts scenario). The source believes the 2026 season has become about more than Jones despite his early-season struggles, and that with proper supporting cast and structure, Jones can still return to form.
