Yahoo Sports NFL on J.J. McCarthy

McCarthy's 6-4 Vikings record and fourth-quarter performance suggest upside in Giants system.

McCarthy was 6-4 in 10 starts with the Vikings and impressed in the fourth quarter last week against the Saints, subbing for Winston with the Giants down 24 points. Harbaugh expressed confidence in McCarthy's opportunity, noting that expectations were unreasonably high in Minnesota and that 'Rome wasn't built in a day' and neither are quarterback careers. McCarthy has two ideal targets in Malik Nabers and Isaiah Likely and should be able to orchestrate an offense that more closely resembles what it looked like under Dart.
