Yahoo Sports NFL on Sam LaPorta

LaPorta faces weakened Packers LB corps; McDuffie allowed 9 catches vs. Detroit in 2024.

Against Green Bay, LaPorta has a favorable matchup despite the Packers allowing only two tight end touchdowns this season. Green Bay's top two linebackers (Edgerrin Cooper and Zaire Franklin) are injured, leaving Isaiah McDuffie and Ty'Ron Hopper to cover; McDuffie struggled against Detroit in 2024, allowing nine catches for 68 yards and a touchdown. With elite receivers St. Brown, Williams, and TeSlaa commanding defensive attention, LaPorta should see linebacker coverage in the red zone, where he could be Detroit's top target.
