Both of the NFL MVP front-runner's second-half interceptions were particularly regrettable. On a second-and-14 deep in Falcons territory in the third quarter, he tried to throw the ball away after escaping pressure, but Falcons safety Jessie Bates III corralled a pass that Purdy should have sailed out of bounds.

Purdy's two second-half INTs marked uncharacteristic outing in loss to Falcons.

Purdy took a step back against Atlanta despite the 49ers scoring two early touchdowns without a wideout catching a pass; both of his second-half interceptions were regrettable—on second-and-14 deep in Falcons territory he tried to throw away after escaping pressure but Jessie Bates III corralled a pass he should have sailed out of bounds, and in the fourth quarter Kendal Daniels tipped his throw over the middle to himself to extinguish San Francisco's comeback bid in the 29-20 loss.
