Niners Nation on Brock Purdy

Purdy's top-five success rate masked timing issues and a stripped-down game plan.

Purdy's Week 7 performance was hampered by timing issues with receivers and a stripped-down game plan due to depleted WR corps; he finished in the top five among QBs in success rate despite two interceptions, one of which was an objectively bad decision where he held the ball too long before deciding who to throw to, while his other interception was a design that has historically given him trouble. His throws to Jordan Watkins were on the money, including an end-zone throw described as about as good as you can make, and he made several contested throws his pass catchers failed to haul in—throws that have been taken for granted because Evans caught them all year.
