J.J. McCarthy is clearly not an ordinary No. 3 quarterback; he and the Giants appear to be a match. McCarthy was picked 10th in the 2024 NFL draft and is talented enough that what he needed was a new situation after his struggles in Minnesota. Offensive coordinator Matt Nagy called an outstanding game for McCarthy in the Giants' 27-21 OT victory over Houston. There is a world where he flops completely or remains inconsistent, but there's also a world in which he and the Giants play just well enough to win a bad NFC East.
