Matt Waldman on Mason Taylor

Elite contested-catch ability wasted; Jets should use Taylor more in red zone.

Mason Taylor has been misused by the Jets for over a year despite passing both Bob Harris and Matt Waldman's evaluation standards. He demonstrated elite contested catch ability on two fades in the red zone in recent action, including one where he was well-covered but had a leverage advantage due to quarterback placement by Gino Smith. Waldman argues the Jets haven't seen who Mason Taylor really is—he's a good route runner who gets open and makes plays on the ball—and recommends increased red zone usage to vulture touchdowns.
