the league has fined Bears quarterback Caleb Williams $11,941 for displaying an "unauthorized logo" on his shoes during the Week 6 win over the Falcons in Atlanta. Williams was wearing Caddix cleats, which do not have a deal with the NFL for the use of its shoes in NFL games. Williams has appealed the fine, and his argument will be, we're told, that he believes the shoes are safer than the shoe options that are officially licensed by the NFL.

Williams fined $11,941 for unauthorized cleats; plans to appeal and continue wearing them.

Bears quarterback Caleb Williams was fined $11,941 by the NFL in Week 6 for wearing unauthorized Caddix cleats without an official NFL shoe deal. Williams has appealed the fine, arguing the shoes are safer than officially licensed options, and intends to continue wearing them despite the penalty. He wore the same shoes throughout the 2026 preseason and all regular-season games played, was not fined in Weeks 1-2, and has not yet been fined for Week 7 against the Patriots. The fine letter does not mention preventing Williams from playing with the Caddix logo visible.
