Activated from injured reserve Tuesday after opening his practice window Oct. 7; Raiders coach Klint Kubiak indicated Thornton needed to demonstrate readiness to contribute before activation. Thornton has a 21-day evaluation window that was approaching its Wednesday deadline; without activation he would have remained on injured reserve for the rest of the season. The second-year wide receiver now gets an opportunity to turn his physical potential (size and speed combination) into production for a struggling offense attempting to halt a four-game losing streak, though earning playing time and coaching staff trust represents the next hurdle.
