You know, he's 23. He's won his last five starts, and just having played the position, how hard that is to do, to come in with 20-plus snap counts and not really throwing to our receivers throughout a training camp or an offseason... to go out and perform against that defense the way he did was impressive.

McCarthy's five-game win streak and strong early performance impresses Schoen despite limited prep time.

McCarthy, 23, has won his last five starts after being acquired by the Giants roughly a month before the trade deadline. Schoen praised his performance against a strong defense despite minimal practice time with the receiving corps, noting that coming in with 20-plus snap counts and limited offseason reps with teammates made his high-level performance impressive. Schoen stated McCarthy is in a strong quarterback room and could be a tradeable 24-year-old commodity with good NFL-level play that could be highly coveted in the offseason.
