Dameon Pierce is in line to lead the team on Monday night if Barkley can't go, but it sounds like the veteran is at least trending in the right direction. Pierce has the history and production to warrant a short-term, bridge contract to a more viable replacement.

Pierce has short-term handcuff value behind Barkley but faces long-term uncertainty.

Pierce is in line to lead the Eagles backfield on Monday night if Saquon Barkley can't go due to hamstring injury, though Barkley is trending in the right direction. With Tank Bigsby and Will Shipley on IR, Pierce has short-term handcuff value. Long-term, Barkley will be 30 next season with no great replacement option on the roster, making Pierce a potential bridge contract candidate, though the source advises treading carefully with this offense given the injury situation and uncertainty ahead.
