With Douglas and Achane out it's a truly horrific set of pass catchers to throw to. Malik Washington is a passable #3 being asked to play as a #1 and no one else is even below average. Five-game sample too small; Willis's supporting cast (receivers, OL) significantly impacts evaluation of his play.

Some observers argue that five games is not a large enough sample to make definitive judgments about Willis's future. Context matters: with Douglas and Achane out, he has been throwing to a depleted receiving corps; Malik Washington is a passable #3 being asked to play as a #1, and no other receiver is even average. Additionally, Willis played well against Cincinnati, the best defense in the league, and would have won that game if rookie receivers had stayed in bounds and avoided drops. His two TDs were chalked off by mental errors by Chris Bell, and one fumble resulted from Austin Jackson's catastrophic loss of the pocket.
