McCarthy is the Giants' starting QB with playoff positioning and long-term control.

McCarthy has been handed the Giants offense after trading for him from Minnesota for a fifth-round pick; he is now the starting quarterback for a 4-2-1 Giants team atop the NFC East with playoff positioning. Giants GM Joe Schoen stated the team felt comfortable with McCarthy's character and film from Minnesota despite passing on him at No. 6 overall two years ago due to concerns about his mental makeup and ability to handle the market. McCarthy has one year remaining on his rookie deal plus a fifth-year team option for 2028.
