Yahoo Sports NFL on Alec Pierce

Pierce's heel injury lands him on IR; Downs becomes primary passing option.

Pierce aggravated the injury that required offseason surgery in Week 2; the Colts placed him on injured reserve in Week 3 and he will attempt to avoid surgery by rehabbing his injured heel. Head coach Shane Steichen said Pierce won't practice this week. Josh Downs should serve as the primary option through the air for as long as Pierce remains sidelined.
