Downs fits Giants' slot receiver need after Austin's ACL injury; 58+ receptions in three Colts seasons.
Downs, a 5-foot-9, 171-pound slot receiver, would fill the Giants' critical need at the position after Calvin Austin's season-ending torn ACL. In three full seasons with the Colts, Downs has never had fewer than 58 receptions, demonstrating consistent production as an elusive, impactful traditional slot receiver. The Giants have lacked this archetype all season despite recent offensive success (four straight games of 27+ points, three straight games of 400+ yards gained).
