Yahoo Sports NFL on Germie Bernard

Bernard's 97% routes last 3 weeks; 20 catches on 26 targets post-Pittman

Bernard has run a route on over 97% of the Steelers' dropbacks the last three weeks after the team placed Michael Pittman on IR. The rookie has 20 catches on 26 targets during that timeframe. He has found a home as the big slot option for a team that needed a rugged, reliable option in the passing game. Matt Harmon notes Bernard needs a ton of volume to produce in his current role but he has the trust of his quarterback, which hasn't often been bestowed on rookies.
