Ferguson benched in favor of Spann-Ford after struggles and tipped interception

Jake Ferguson has struggled in 2026, prompting the Cowboys to seek alternatives at tight end; after tipping a game-losing interception to Alex Anzalone in the loss to Tampa Bay, Ferguson's route participation has declined in each of the last two weeks. The Cowboys are moving Ferguson to reduced snaps in favor of Spann-Ford, a better run blocker who costs less and is not significantly worse as a pass-catcher; the offense exploded in the Eagles game when Ferguson's drops or fumbles did not impact the outcome.
