Williams will pay $12k per game for injury-prevention cleats to reduce career wear and tear.

Williams is prioritizing injury prevention through specialized Caddix cleats designed to reduce ACL and ankle injuries via rotating and releasing studs; he stated he will continue wearing them despite $12,000 fines per game because he believes in the science and wants to minimize wear and tear on his body over his career. His lower body hasn't bothered him as much this season, which fueled his decision to keep wearing the cleats. He wore them throughout preseason and Weeks 1-2 before his hamstring injury, and has worn them in Weeks 6-7 with only one fine acknowledged so far.
