Collins would create a $33.2 million charge next year. And while those are probably prohibitive numbers at their respective positions under ideal circumstances, they're complete non-starters when considering that, per Over The Cap, Houston is already overspent by more than $40 million on the '27 cap

Collins' trade would create $33.2M dead cap; Texans already $40M+ over 2027 cap.

Collins, 27, is a Pro Bowl talent and core member of the Texans under contract through 2027 with a fully guaranteed $28.5 million base salary next year and three void years on his deal. A trade would create a $33.2 million dead cap charge in 2027. Given the Texans are already overspent by more than $40 million on the 2027 cap per Over The Cap, trading Collins is a non-starter as GM Nick Caserio must bring the cap into compliance by March.
