Yahoo Sports NFL on Cole Payton

Payton kept active but unused; could see time in non-QB roles.

The Eagles kept Payton active over offensive lineman Jake Majors on Sunday night but he didn't play. While the initial thought was he'd have a special teams role, he didn't appear there either. Perhaps there was an offensive role in mind that didn't materialize, or he was held as an emergency RB option. Payton is described as a heck of an athlete who is developing as a QB behind the scenes, with potential to get on the field in other roles.
