Bleeding Green Nation on Grant Calcaterra

Calcaterra misused as fullback; should be deployed as receiver, not blocker.

The source criticizes the Eagles' misuse of Calcaterra, a receiving tight end from college, being deployed as a fullback/blocker despite having only nine catches for 76 yards across this season and last season. The source states: "I simply do not understand what on earth the coaching staff sees on film when they watch him. It's not even fair to him! This isn't how he should be used." The Eagles kept Calcaterra but cut Cameron Latu and EJ Jenkins, who are better blockers. The source argues this is not a serious way to use personnel, as a receiving tight end who offers very little as a blocker needs a plan to use him as a receiver, not as a blocker.
