This little spinner play-fake in the backfield causes the linebacker to hesitate, and Saquon Barkley releases on the wheel route. Barkley's release through the B-gap is a nice little detail. It makes him harder for the linebacker to pick up than if he simply released straight outside. This is a good example of the design helping the player win his matchup, and it produces a 24-yard gain.

Barkley's scheme design and execution shine; 24-yard wheel route and TD on direct snap.

The source highlights a well-designed play where a spinner play-fake in the backfield causes the linebacker to hesitate, and Barkley releases on the wheel route. Barkley's release through the B-gap makes him harder for the linebacker to pick up, creating the opportunity to get the ball to an excellent player in space, producing a 24-yard gain. The source also notes another positive play where a direct snap to Barkley is clever, and he beats the defense to the edge for a touchdown. However, the source expresses concern that Barkley clearly doesn't look 100% healthy, though his ability is still obvious on individual plays.
