Yahoo Sports NFL on George Pickens

Pickens underperforming $27.3M franchise tag; coach openly critical.

The source notes that Pickens, who had nearly 1,500 receiving yards in 2025, hasn't been living up to the $27.3 million cost of his franchise tag; coach Brian Schottenheimer has been openly critical of him, and while most teams aren't in financial position to pick up the remainder of that tab, it only takes one buyer willing to roll the dice on his sublime talent for a trade to come together, especially if the Cowboys can get a better return than the compensatory draft pick they'd likely get in 2028.
