Mayfield's thumb. Everybody's like, oh, you know, what kind of a player is he going to be with a thumb injury? He's wearing the glove to sort of protect the thumb coming off injury and everything like that. They didn't have to.

Mayfield's thumb injury managed with glove; run-heavy game plan limited passing needs

Mayfield is wearing a protective glove on his thumb following an injury, but the source notes that despite this precaution, the Buccaneers' dominant rushing attack (258 yards on 49 design carries) meant Mayfield didn't need to throw much. The source questions whether the thumb injury will affect his play, but in this game it was a non-factor due to Tampa's run-heavy game plan (79.3% called run rate).
